Our Story

Terre Verte - the historic European pigment

.With Terre Verte Painting we seek to create a curated platform on which professional or beginner painters can connect to beautiful painting locations and instructed workshop experiences in Europe.

Terre verte is the French name for Green Earth, also sometimes called Verona Green and is a traditional European green painting pigment representing historic painting in Europe. Terre Verte is a quiet and understated colour and one of the most resilient artist pigments available.

Europe has an unique and unparalleled cultural heritage. We want to connect Europe’s cultural heritage with painting education and enable painting experiences in natural light. Instead of working in light controlled dark studios, hobby and professional artists can study painting in beautiful surroundings where historically painting was taught.

Our mission

What we want to create

  1. Curated painting experiences

    We connect painters with beautiful European locations and creative experiences — for both hobby and professional painters. It is all about the art of painting and the places where it happens.

  2. Protecting European heritage

    We support local European communities by giving property and estate owners an opportunity to earn extra income through hosting painting experiences thereby helping to maintain historic locations.

  3. Connecting art communities

How it works

  1. For professional and hobby artists

    If you are interested in painting in natural light in historic European settings, please get in touch and we can send you the current list of venues we work with.

  2. For venues

    If you work for or own a historic building or venue in Europe and would like painters to come to your venue to paint, then please get in touch.

  3. For art teachers

    If you are teaching painting already and would like to teach in new locations within Europe, we would be interested to hear from you.
